Established in 1801, Crabbie is one of the oldest whisky names in Scotland, indeed, Crabbie was one of the first ‘legal’ producers of Scotch Whisky. In seeking out the best, our founder John Crabbie was a true pioneer and innovator in the Scottish whisky industry. John Crabbie was a blender of whisky and also a distiller. With Andrew Usher, he co-founded North British Distillery. He was one of the first to develop the idea of blending whisky to improve quality & consistency in the 1800’s when few were as forward thinking and created Crabbie’s Ginger Wine, through steeping ginger in wine. Amongst his many achievements he also created one of the first whisky cocktails – the Whisky Mac – blending his whisky and ginger wine as well as being the creator of the ubiquitous ‘Hot Toddy’. A Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky aged in ex-bourbon casks Sweet vanilla and fresh fruit with vibrant citrus and a rich mellow finish.
