The cocktails origins are uncertain, with at least three claimants to the role of creator of the famous drink. In any case, the cocktail seems to have a strong connection with Mexico. According to the most well-known and recognised theory, the drinks inventor is Daniel Negrete, who in 1936 offered his sister-in-law Margarita this cocktail as a wedding gift. A less reliable theory is that Carlos Danny Herrera created this cocktail in 1947, inspired by a dancer who was allergic to alcohol, except Tequila. Finally, it is thought that in 1948 in Acapulco, Barlady Margaret Sames, created the Margarita with a salt crust, knowing that many people drink Tequila after licking salt. This is still how it is decorated today all over the world.
