Aperol was created in 1919 by the Barbieri brothers in Padua, northwestern Italy. It was launched at the Padova International Fair, a major trade fair that also included a food and drink exhibition, called "Campionara". The drink was launched as an aperitif with a lower alcohol strength. Taste is Spicy, sweet, slightly bitter flavor with clear character of orange, hints of rhubarb and herbs.
